If you did, did you notice how on one of the left-handers he seemed to be consistently taking his left (inside) foot *completely* off the peg - you could actually see the space between his foot and the bike. Can't remember whether it was on his way in or way out of the turn, but I saw it twice in the same spot so it appeared to be more than just random (first time I thought he slipped or something). He wasn't pitting out, either - believe me when I tell you that - he was hauling the mail.
Any thoughts?
He was doing it on turn in. I have seen him do this many times before. I think he knows how hard he is pushing his front wheel, and is planning to use his foot to prevent a crash on turn in. Rossi practices in the dirt it is probibly second nature to put his foot out when he feels his front end slipping at that point in a turn. The last pass he made on Capperossi was not too clean.
Thanks, Guy. I wonder what would happen if his front end did slip, and he did decide to put that foot down to save it...I tried that once at the top of the hill at RA (T6) on a cold morning on a first practice lap, probably going, oh, 40mph (maybe). I, too, started riding on dirt, and have that nasty inclination to want to dab when things get sketchy. Even at that slow speed I felt like I nearly broke my foot. At 100mph or whatever speed he was doing through that turn, I would imagine dabbing to save a slide would be mui ugly.

I have saved my but at pretty high speeds in the rain with that technique. I dont think it would be pretty in the dry.
I dont think it has much to do with putting his foot out to save a crash. Its his technique after downshifts.... its his way of getting his foot back up on the footpeg (from having his heel on the peg while downshifting, then getting the ball of his foot back up on the peg for corner entry)
He consistantly does this.
I had heard this was a/his method of additional weight transfer???
I like to sling my nads over my shoulder on corner entry, its my way of shifting weight!

I don't think a half ounze is helping you that much....... :kicknuts: :lmao:
Hey, what are you doing over here? :err: :lmao: :lmao:
i noticed that to, i think it is a foot moving technique, to get back on the peg for the turn
Go get some tapes of Kevin Schwantz and watch him do the same thing. Just a part of style.
