Post by: funsizeracing on August 17, 2006, 11:34:25 AM
Is there a good place to stay that's close to the Track?

We usually stay at the budget zzzzz...  Look on the Hallett site-you should see the number there.  Dirt cheap rooms, and decent quality.  Its about 10 minutes from the track.

by my best recollection nothing is really "close", 20 mins or so seemed to be the nearest... I may be wrong.  Let me check out where we stayed the last few times down there.

I know the first time we seemed closer but it was last renovated in 1976...cheap night though.   we where 20-25 mins out last time we went, that was at a best western, lots of stuff nearby (walgreens, resteraunts etc... ) just dont stay in the "pool area" past 10:30... drunk... and loud... on a side note the police in that town where very nice   :ahhh:

Becka,

FYI, the old geezers are staying at the Hampton Inn in Sand Springs, about 20 minutes from the track. There is not much in Hallett for accomodations or food, but the place Tim is referring to is the closest. I think Tim said "I've stayed in worse places, but not much worse." See you down there.

At the risk of sounding a little "cowboyish"  I think I'll pass on the shag carpet and red lights and stay at the Hapmton.
Thanks, see you there.

Hehe, one time I think my girlfriend and I got the 'Honeymoon Special' at the 'ol Zzzz...  It had a little kitchen and living room and stuff.  I would have ben $50 that the bed took quarters-I was pretty bummed it didn't lol!

Budget ZZZZ is the only way to roll.  Worst hotel I've seen in my life, but for ~$40 a night it beats the trailer and an air mattress.

I honestly would rather stay there than the POS Super 8 in Council Bluff's... it was like jail (so I here) light blue/gray walls with matching furniture (I mean... exactly the same paint).  4 channels, no sports center... at least the ZZZZzzzzzzz was clean!

Of course the ONLY bar near the ZZZzzz smelled like peepee and served warm beer, that bartender said I had a purdy mouth though, that was a nice touch...

You guys have fun, Randy give me a call when you get a sec, wanted to pick your brain on MAM in October!  you comin down to gateway?  DOUBLE POINTS BABY!!!!

Yeah the Zzzz is really not all that bad-I would say the roach motel at MAM is surely nastier.  Plus at the Zzzz they have racing pictures on the walls in the lobby!

Like  the track, there really isn't anything good around Hallet.  The pit lane is pretty wild, though :wtf:
