Title: R6 Case cover question
Post by: BrianC636 on August 15, 2006, 02:09:47 PM
Ok, I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this but I'm not 100%.  Do I need to put case covers on my wife's R6 (2004 model) for her to be able to race at Hallett this weeked?

Sorry for being a total newbie.

RTFM!!!!!  :spank: :spank:

Must be "re-enforced" I believe is how the rule book reads.  I have "heard" of people actually "re-enforcing" the stock covers, best bet is buy A/M.  Basically take a sheet of 1/4in aluminum, shape it like a case cover, make small cuts around the perimiter to allow it to fold over the edges... JB Weld it to the OEM case cover.  I think tech's exact response was "well... its re-enforced"  :lmao:

Short answer... Yes

sliders are not a replacement for case guards either in the form of hardened sidecovers (AF or reinforced stock) or case savers.

If tech allowed sliders in place of covers then it was an oversight

the rule book says"case guards... on both sides..may be in the form of strenghened side covers" for that model. i doubt welding sheet metal is what they mean by "strengthened"and race day is not the day to find this out ...right???   good luck!
