I see on the schedule that the track day scheduled for August 10th has been canceled. Is anyone else picking up that track day? I haven't been to Barber before and wanted some time on the track.
TIA
I to, would like some track time before the race. I talked with the track this afternoon asking the same thing, they said they never get enough intrest and usualy loose money. The track rental is $12000 per day so they would need 100 people at $120 per head just to break even. I went to VIR last weekend and did the cornerspeed track day, there was way over 100 people. I think Barber could do it if everyone interested would call the track, they took my name and number. So call!
No friggin' way?!?! Surely someone will take on that track day. I don't see how they could get by without making any money. Barber is always a HUGE event for CCS.
I know last year pratice was close to $200.00....
Since I have been there before I wasn't going to do pratice, but if the Track Puts on the Pratice and not a 3rd party org (Like NESBA or STT) I would find it hard to believe they could lose money...
Either way...Kind of sucks....
3 of us had planned on the track day prior to the CCS/ASRA races as well but heard the same thing.
We had 4 guys that were going to do the practice day also. I hope someone steps up and hosts something.
Someone has to, there's ALWAYS a practice/track day on Th! Considering this is the only CCS event that I've ever known to literally sell out, how could someone not make money off a practice day on Th?
I just got a call from a rep at Barber. He said they won't be holding ANY practices in the future before a race weekend except for the two major spectator events. I'm assuming he means AMA. So there it goes, no more pre-race practices the day before...
Cant make any trackdays before and cant learn the track in two short practice sessions so I'm out. :whine:

was seriously thinking of going if they had a TD the day before, but I'm not driving 900 miles to a track I have never seen with 2 practices either.
I'm planning on being there! I've never been to Barber and I'm looking forward to the experience. Don't most CCS weekends give you an entire morning of practice sessions the day of the race?
I'm also hoping to field an entry in the TeamChallenge. Anyone know which day that will occur and how/when practice for that will be?
Does Barber have a pretty good following of local guys? Anyone have a count from last year's Team Challenge entries?
Word...
Usually 2 rounds of practice on Saturday morning..about 8 minutes each maybe and 1 round on Sunday about 10 minutes.

What about the TC was on Friday the 11th? Any word/idea on practice for that?

Plus insurance.... plus cornerworkers (20 minimum),plus security, plus gate workers..... add another 5K easy.
I had 2 guys going also, no practice, new track, we are staying home. I think the management at Barber is cutting there own necks with this one.

Ok... the path to enlightenment....
Barber MSP works like this...
Barber Foundation (BF) owns the track.
Zoom Motorsports (ZM)/Bruno Event Team rents the track from Barber Foundation and rents it out. When BF rents the track to ZM they expect FULL payment for the course. If ZM falls short at a "Promoter Practice" due to low turn-out BF doesn't cut ZM a break, ZM eats it.
This is a Business decision... obviously CCS/Kevin Elliott does not feel comfortable putting $16,000+ at risk for a practice day and neither does Zoom Motorsports.. that's business.
Excellent! Thank you both!

Wow, are you guys shittin me?... just because there's no track day the day before, you're not going to go? LAME.
It's an easy as fuck track to learn, and there's morning practice AND it's a twin-sprint event, so you can always do better in the second rounds.

never rode there but plan on racing and hoping for the best
For anyone who hasn't been on the track, but is going, I have on-board video from last year when I was at Barber...
www.teamsimoneracing.com goto the Video Gallery...Few Vids of Barber on there...Should help a little...
There is an EASY solution to all of this! Why doesn't everyone run the Team Challenge... that would be a good practice opportunity. It's only 175.00 and you get 69 laps! Better than nothing... just remember to ride smart as there is a championship chase going on! 8)
Plus our team could use the extra money we'll get for first overall with that many bikes on the grid
Why is MW SBK, MW SS, HW SS appears twice in the weekend?
Are those clases race two times?
Is the track (garages) going to be close on Thursday?, or just the track?
Because it's a twin sprint weekend. Sprint races are ran twice.
Barber has garages?
I meant parking lot.... :banghead:
