Before anyone gets the wrong idea.....I'm not leaving the Wegman Fund to do this. It came up unexpectedly (I never thought they would pick me!!) and the time involved will not be close to the Wegman time.
I have been picked to be on the AMA Pro Roadracing rules committee.
Ron Barrick called yesterday with the news. I'm looking forward to a great experience working with the people that make the rules for the highest level of our sport in the country.
I don't know who else is on the committee yet. I'm looking forward to meeting and working with whomever is there. First organizational meeting is July 13th at AMA headquarters.
I'll see you all at Blackhawk on Sunday the 16th. :thumb:
Cool.
Now maybe the current screwed up setup will get straightened out.
Congratulations Gordie!
Noice! A wise choice! :thumb:
Hey Congratulations!!!
Congrats! :thumb: :thumb:
Damn, there goes retirement. Congrats Gordy, awesome news. Now call me, you SOB!.
OK, you called me an SOB......what should I call you???
No problem but, later I have stuff to do for the rest of today. Maybe later this evening.
Good deal - Now we have someone on our side reguarding AMA happenings and whatnot..... Congrats
Congratulations to you!!

Wow, that is most interesting. Do you think you will be allowed to discuss with us here the decisions being mulled over in the committee or will we have to wait for official postings? I'd be very interested in hearing about how some of the decisions are made and/or even brought forward for discussion.
You know, how much political influence is involved in these things.
Once again, congrats on being selected to the comittee and looking forward to reading how things operate (hopefully)
Word...
Personally I think it would be a bit counterproductive to go 100% public about what's being considered because it just starts people bothering you trying to push their own interests (been there done that for a lot of years now), however being more open than in the past is a necessity.
Gordy - I'll see ya on the 13th
I agree.
There may be times when committee members may step out and ask ideas and input from the racing community, for informational purposes, but that would be it. I think there may be times when a feeling for certain things needs to be discovered but that would not be discussed in an open forum. Any discussion I would have with anyone would be held in strict confidence. Discussing rules publicly during deliberations would not be a good idea.
Look forward to seeing you Sean. :thumb:
