Can't really blame him, the workload has to be huge and dealing with people being hurt wears on anyone.

All I have to say is thanks Gordy - we appreciate what you've done more than you'll ever know.

I agree, it's a sad day, but all I can do is thank Gordy for his service.  I am just wondering if anyone on the board of directors would be interested in continuing the fund.

Gordy has worked hard.

I feel like everyone is working together to roll the program into one thing.

You guys interested in managing the fund? I'm in if someone else can help out! Geez, we cannot let this just go away.

Let me know if you have some ideas to offer, because I'm sure we can keep it going, even if Gordy is not involved.

Alexa, what is needed?

Under the Laws of Wisconsin, doesn't the board of a non profit need three trustees or something?  That has been you, Gordy, and...

I haven't been on the board for a few years now. Russ, Dave Doe, Nick Mankse along with Gordy and Laurel ran the thing.

We'd have to talk to them, but I think it's worth a shot at changing the guard and keeping the fund, don't you?

I'm not a Wisconsinite but if manpower is what is needed to keep the fund going, I'm sure I can volunteer some of my time.

I don't know if I can take another thing on my table.  I have a very low income, and I work with a good group of people that I'm very loyal to.  I would be happy to help and do some things, but I don't know all the details either...so I won't make any decision either way.

Run with it and let's see where it goes.

Thanks Gordy.  What would 20 years of your time be worth in actual dollars?

Somehow I think this years auction will wind up in a huge, over blown, cry-in-your-beer kind of shindig!

When I read the news my jaw dropped. Tis' a sad day for sure. :wah: The auction was one guaranteed day that we would all get to blackhawk. Our agenda was Wegman Auction and AMA@RA yearly.....but as was stated he has worked very hard and I'm sure had a hell of a work load. To that, Thanks Gordy for all you've done and for all the people you've helped.  I'll be at the auction just like the others, I'll be the drunk guy bidding against himself.  :thumb:

I'm a wisconsinite...Live in La Crosse...not sure what I can do to help though 8)

Hey everyone thanks for all the props, your kind words are truly appreciated but, I was just the middle man that gave your money to the injured racers. You people gave your hard earned dollars every year at the auction and any other time a racer needed help, like now with Brad and Jason. Thank you for that.

I have been approached by the Racing2SaveLives group about continuing the Wegman Fund. These people are well known in the racing world and are already set up as a non-profit so it may be an easy matter to transfer things to them.

I'm not at all saying Alexa and anyone else here is not capable of doing it but it takes a really dedicated group of people to keep this going. It is very time consuming and everyone here has their hands pretty full already.

The R2SL group has a staff of volunteers already on that are very good at fund raising and I'm sure could handle this with little or no problems.

I will speak with them and see what they have in mind. Meanwhile if there is a group of people here willing to do this, you need to get together and make a decision to do it. Then we would sit down and talk about what you need to do to take over the fund. I may be talked into staying on the board of directors, at least for awhile to get things rolling. Remember this needs to be done before the end of the year.
