Super Bowl winning QB Ben Roethlisberger was in a sportbike accident today.
Seriously injured and not wearing a helmet.
Everybody ready for another barrage of people claiming motorcycles should be outlawed? I thought most big name athletes had in their contracts clauses that specifically prohibited them from pursuing "dangerous" activities.

Magic Johnson?
Kobe?
Kellen Winslow JR. had a clause, but still decided to ride anyway. He'd never ridden before and started on a sportbike (can't remember which one). If I remember correctly he tried something stupid, wrecked, hit a curb and tore his ACL. He still hasn't played a regualr season down in the NFL. I love motorcycles, but if I have to choose between $60 million and bikes... well, the choice is pretty simple.
Yeah he wasn't wearing a helmet. Dumba$$. Heres a couple articles from the Pittsburg new paper http://www.post-gazette.com/Sports/
I seem to remember a guard for the Chicago Bulls, 1st round draft pick I think, was in an accident a couple of years ago that ended his career too.

Great quote from one of the stories.....
"Steelers fans across the region shared concern about the quarterback's condition while debating his judgment in not wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle, especially since he wears one for his occupation."
I guess it hadn't occurred to the guy that a car might be able to hit him harder than a pass rusher....
