Title: rebuilding motor??
Post by: Malik on January 08, 2003, 06:15:31 AM
I had to pull motor ,cuz one of gears was slipping out(rounded off dog) well, now that I'm in there what else should I change for investigate. other than

rings & crank bearings....easy stuff

Do I have to change all gears/wheels or just the one that got rounded off.

Do I have to changes pistons and rod bearings. Or just rod bearings........need help please.

Change the two affected gears(male and female gears if you will in relation to the dogs).

Check shift drum and shiftforks the forks for the damaged gear I would replace just for my own piece of mind

I would also do the cam chain.

But also what bike is this? how many miles?

I would check the clutch basket and cltuch plates, if you replace them I always out a new throw out bearing in when I do those.

10-12k race miles?

if so I would check bore and pistons as well as have the rods magna fluxed(checked for factures)

If street miles then I would not think it was needed at this time.

valve job
