Post by: Team-G on May 04, 2006, 09:40:57 AM
Anybody know of an organization like CCS for quad racing in the midwest?

Thanks,
Dave

Gygax, you can race them here in Iowa on the local motocross track.  Races are every other Saturday.  Not sure if that is the type of racing that you are looking for.  Triple Bravo is headed out for an open practice on Wednesday.  I am taking the Husqvarna instead of the quad though.  I will be there if you want to try and run me over again.   :P

Cool!  Make sure you put a target on your back, I don't want to run over anyone I don't know..

There's a track east of Sioux Falls that has dirt track and hare scrambles.  The hare scrambles are split up so the quads run separate from the bikes.
Here is the web site: http://siouxvalleycycleclub.com/svcc/home.html

Yankton, SD also has a club that travels to tracks in SD, IA, NE.

Just got done loading up.  We are headed out to the open practice tomorrow night.  It will be my first time on a real motocross track. :o  I am kind of scared...

dude!  you have enough problems on 2 wheels.  You'll kill yourself on 4!

Jeff, if you were talking to me, I went out on two... took the Husky 250.  I survived but was about the third slowest guy out there.  Just trying to get back in shape for racing.  My first outing will be next week at MAM.  Now, if I can just quit procrastinating and get to putting the Ducati together instead of riding around on dirt bikes...

Are you doing any of the GP dates?  Any decisions on RA?

Nah, I was talking to Gygax...

If you're man enough to live through a husky on dirt, you can handle a 4-wheeler.

I don't think I'm doing any of the GP dates separate from the MW series.  After careful consideration, RA AMA is not going to work for me this year.  It came up too quick and I couldn't secure funding for it.

Now it's just a matter of strong finishes in the MW with minimal crashes and avoiding mechanicals...

I know, you don't think 4 would be easier?

I ride both 4 and 2.  Generally, I have found that I am about 95% as fast on 4.  But, it took some time to learn how to steer properly with the rear wheels to do so.  I will also say that it is MUCH more of a workout/beating on the quad.  The quad has smaller diameter wheels that track more of the rough ground.  Additionally, you have to deal with an another axis (left/right in addition to foraward/backward) of movement.

How long / laps are the quad races in general?  Sprints & endurance?
