New surface in lots of corners and supposedly switched to new line paint that is non-slip, like "WSBK paint", (not sold in stores.) Anybody know details on this stuff?
From what I've heard this is part of their new "3 year plan." They're expanding the padock, adding garages, moving the Billy Mitchel Bridge and reserfacing select portions of the track. As I understand it the reserfacing will be one of the last things done.
I'd heard the resurface was already done...

+1, went to RA site and there is no word...
Anyone? Buuuuuueller.........................................
All the corners scheduled for a revamp were done last fall!!
Does this mean all the track records before the repairs are "as is", forever?
I don't think records are frozen by resurfacing. If the layout was changed, then maybe. Like when they added "the bends" in the area previously known as "the kink"
T 3,5,6,8, and Canada Corner have been repaved.
Upper Paddock area has been expanded by cutting into the hill top and filling in area towards Sargento Bridge. New Med facility and conf room buil just behind restrooms in paddock.
Billy Mitchell Bridge changes do not look promising. FIM wants a tunnel.
Yes, all the track records will start over because they changed the pit layout, and fixed some cracks in a few turns.

So, the lap times will be the same? Who makes the decision on when the books start over, anyway?
I know some stuff about the asphalt they used. Might change the lap times.
That would be an engineering or contractor problem. The asphalt they used is pretty interesting. We'll see how it works, I guess.

Its black and dark and your supposed to be on top of it ?
Was it local contractors? or someone who knows how to setup for a race track ?
Was it the stuff there were supposed to use at Braindard ?
Exit of T6 excluded the new surface is nice and pretty smooth. Traction seems really good as well. No more sealer strips and patches is good. Asphalt has a special polymer that resists expansion and contraction as weather temps change.
And then there was rejoicing...
Thanks, Garth...
T6, T8 and under the bridge after Canada Corner (billy mitchelll???) were the areas that I slid around a LOT in.
Hope T8 has some good grip too....
Turn eight has GREAT grip! ;D
Six is better with some transitional bumps....but you are still sliding under the Billy Mitchell bridge Jeff!
the new corners rock, just left, road america is my favorite track, too bad i live 13 hrs away
still slide under the bridge though, but i think that is the hill, not the pavement
(winning every tome i go helps)
Lap records exist for a configuration not a surface condition.
PS lap records have fallen in almost every class. I know Steve Crevier set a new Superbike record on the XB-RR 2:22.xx
I beat my 05 record by 2 seconds... ;D

Guys, this is easy...
UNDER a bridge. Radiant heat issue.
