Title: Crank Case Blow By

I just installed Flat Slides on the SV. Where should I run my crank case blow by tubes? I bought new hose and can pretty much run it where ever. Whats the rule and what do people usually do? Can I run them into those little oil filters the hose clamp on the end of the hoses that they sell at Pep boys or autozone.

K3 told me to run them so they are hanging above the velocity stacks so in the event they do start spitting oil the oil gets sucked rite back into the motor.

But I don't want the little filter to get sucked into the carb during normal operation.

I know they need to breath so I can't run them into a sealed bottle.

Give me some idears.

I took the stock oil blowby holder that is attached to the stock airbox, removed it and ran some long hose back to the subframe where I attached it to one of the side rails. Worked fine the last 2 years.

The rule book statesthis:
5.1.15 On 4 stroke machines, crankcase ventilation must be routed to a heat resistant catch can of at least 350cc of capacity or the air box.
   A) If ventilation is routed to the air box, any drains from the air box must be sealed.
   B) If ventilation is routed to a catch can, the overflow tube from the catch can must be routed to the area of the carburators so that any overflow from the catch can will be drawn into the engine.
   C) Radiator overflow and battery vent tubes may be routed into a separate catch can that need no be vented into the intake area.
   D) Final approval of the catch can system rests with the Tech inspector.

It seems that the 350cc catch can with an overflow tube near the carbs would do the trick for you.

I have seen a couple of people who did not run air cleaners just zip tie the overflow tube to the velocity stack.  I do know that SVs have a little blow by even when the engine is in good shape.  That might ugly up your air cleaner a bit if you get the vent near it.  I do not think that they inspect these systems very closley anyhow.
