Title: What a weekend
Post by: andy908hamblin on March 06, 2006, 07:59:35 AM
DId anyone see that 1M 41S lap time posted by crevier at daytona during the Thunderbike qualifying? Looks like the new Buell is going to be a threat towards the other factorys.

Although my Buell had problems the entire weekend, in GT Lights expert i was beginning to pull a gap for second but ran into an unsure feeling in the motor having to pull off quite soon. In expert thunderbike having a good ol battle with PJ and Helmbach for the 5th position. But on the white flag lap i was debree flagged for a broken oil line which put me in a hell of a slide into the horseshoe which amazingly i was able to save, i just thought i had a worn out rear tire when the rear end kept moving around since i was using the same rear tire that i ran practice and raced with at homestead as well as this entire weekend.

Then comes down to the ASRA Thunderbike which i just so happened to get an outside position on row 2, the green flag drops and up in fifth then when we come out of the chicane i was about to tuck in behind PJ and begin to work together with our drafts which we earlier discussed of doing but i put it in fifth and got a serious power loss so i pulled in the clutch and shut it off.  Earlier in the Thunderbike qualifying just as i went across start finish on checkered i got a big puff of blue smoke out of my intake cover later to discover my spark plug from my rear cylinder was toasted, meaning i had slight aluminum fragments along with the electrode being slammed down in the plug. I recieved some cooler spark plugs and added slight more fuel in my map which i was advised from a few different people. So i knew i may have a hole in the rear piston but it seemed to run fine in the pits. I tried to give it hell but i guess it just wasnt my weekend. My apologies to PJ for not being a ble to put on a good show with you and work together. But i have to say to PJ on the first lap at around turn 6 and 7 that was a hell of a save when it looked like your rear tire got of track and you got quite twisted up. All this weekend just makes me really wish i could show my talent only if my bike would last.

Hi Andy,

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I was wondering what happened to you during the ASRA Thunderbike final. I was looking forward to a good race and working together to run away from those Ducati 748s...

Yeah, when Estok broke his clutch coming out of the International Horseshoe everyone checked up and I got forced into the grass and got sideways. That was a big tank slapper! I feel pretty lucky I was able to ride it out.

PM me sometime to discuss your engine set up. Maybe it's time to make some changes there.

maybe the xbrr will make a good battle for the 600 if i get one

i think me and pj probably would have put on the best show for that race and possibly even have been able to run each other up to the front

Crevier`s qualifying Time was a 1min 49.65 according to roadracing world.com and that isn`t going to beat many 600s!
