Title: Full System Exhaust VS Strait Thru Exhaust
Post by: mcantuaria23 on February 25, 2006, 10:54:28 AM
Is anybody know what kind the full exhaust system makes more power for Honda 600cc and 1000cc or the Strait Thru Exhaust is the sollution for everybody to extract full power from the bike? Anybody have the Dyno chart with Exhaust and without? If yes please send me the e-mail. mcantuaria23@hotmail.com

When you say straight through, I assume you mean without any baffling whatsoever.

It boils down to theory vs. practice.  In theory you'll get more with a straight pipe but not usually in practice.  In addition if you do get higher HP numbers the delivery is almost certainly going to be peaky.  I started running open cans a while back and regardless of power I like them better.  It just sounds better to me.  However, there are many tracks that I have to change canisters for (Jennings comes to mind) so it is a nuisance to.  If you're doing it for just HP, I'd go with the standard system & PC III combo.

unless the header was designed to run without a can it wont make more power, actually you will lose power...

and if you really desire to make that much noise, just swing by.  I'll be happy to kick you in the nuts until your ears ring.  :-*

When I used to modify cars, I remember that if you used too big of a pipe for the exhaust, you would lose performance.  I am no expert, but the exhaust system needs a little back pressure for the exhaust pulses to exit the cylinder.  Plus, if the pulses did not exit at the right speed or timing, it would acually cause more back pressure by the pulses "bouncing" off each other, and not straight out of the exhaust.  But like I said, I don't consider myself anyone to listen to in these matters.
