2006 R6 owners may get stuck with attaching plastic number plates like the old days. THAT will look nice....real nice! :o

I won't say nothin about those 6" , on the grounds that it might incrimidate me :-*, but I will say I wish you all would put them straight on both sides, on plates, would make them alot better to see from either side of corners when your going by oh so fast. ;D

I`d love to say something smart about size doesn`t matter but that would take this thread in a whole different direction!

Deni, you gixxer dudes have it made, you have no problems pleasing tech inpectors everywhere.
Someone get a hold of Merck (or SharkSkins) and see if they are working on anything for natural tail section/number plate enhancement. :o

About two weeks ago I left you a message in re-guards to the number plate situation on the new R6's...I know that you returned my call and I thank you for that, I have just been tied up with work and out of town.....My situation is more then likley not going to be an uncommon one this season. I just don't see how I will be able to fit my three digit number (727) onto the front or the rear of the bike and keep it within rulebook specs....I know that the rulebook say's "If you can't fit the numbers on the bodywork then you are required to use some sort of add on number plate", Sounds like it would look tacky not to mention anti-aerodynamic....Any suggestions would be greatly appericated....

I know it is getting increasingly harder to get an 8" number on the front and 6" numbers on the back of the bike. This is one area that I will try and work with you guy's on, we will allow the use of smaller numbers just as long as the overall look is in-line with the rule book. This only applies to bikes that have a problem with the number plate area being to small. We don't want to abuse this by putting small number plate areas on bikes that have sufficient room for ones as per the
rule book. Take a look at what the Factory Kawasaki and Factory Yamaha are doing with their 600's. What the Yamaha R6 had at the Fontana test looked ok, I've just asked them to add more white background to the front. You have 2 options on the front, one is to have the plate on the left side of the bike, like in the pictures below, if you do that just make sure you have the white all the way up to the edge of the windscreen.
Or you could have the white background all the way across the front above the intake and up onto the windscreen.
One thing to keep in mind is that we still need an area in the white background to put the class sticker and the "Tech" sticker,

Back in 2000 I custom cut some numbers out of black vinyl that were the correct size and had no outline or shadow – they were just a different font style and I had one number off set staggered slightly below the first number. so I thought that I was being really good at the start of last season by insuring that my numbers were the proper height and had the proper spacing, but NOOOOOOOO, because I made the plate 10x12 reg. size, the 8" numbers would not fit without over lap. So overlap and outline with yellow and that should do it.........
actually when I look back at it, I don't think that I would have passed them either.
Funny, but after the 1st couple of races, you just slap'em on until they pass.
