Title: sv650 tach options
Post by: throttle on January 18, 2006, 05:11:13 PM
need to find out what options i have for tach.  want to find something that is functional and affordable. 300.00 is too much for a one function component.

What year? For the first generation the early 90's GSXR1100's work.  They're sometimes on Ebay for about $35-$45.

See the third post in the wrenching section for a little more info.

SPA Tach from Street and Comp. It has a temp gague and shift indicator lights on them too. I couldn't tell you a price, because thats what came with my bike. Look online or call them.

What year SV do you have? Stocker not working? You can ususally obtain a working stock one for $50-$100. Look on EBAY.

Depending on the brand of fairings you have,  the Pre 03 stock one doesn't always fit.   I picked up a SPA on Wera.com for 200.00 last year.   Daytona makes a tach that will work and it is much cheaper than the SPA Design.    S&C also has Daytona Tachs.

I've had Daytona Tach's drop the needle off of a few models.  Maybe I was just going to fast... :P

SPA is nice. I have also used the MyChron 3 Gold. it's real cool, except that the graph is kind of jumpy. Real cool features though. On the older SV, you really don't need a tach that much since it only revs to 10.5 and once you get used to it you can feel it go flat around 9500.
