Title: RE: Deep Video
Post by: L8brake731 on January 03, 2006, 03:00:13 PM
Just opened the link. YIKES!! :o
I recognize two of the pictures that were taken, they were mine (not me in the pictures).
The shot of the white GSXR with the tweeked frontend and blown off wheel on its side, happened on Angeles Crest Highway in California about 4 years ago.
Its only half of the accident. The second shot later in the video was the Red CBR on its side in the middle of the road with about the same damage.
In short; two canyon crazies >:(fixated on eachother in a fast left sweeper.... Both riders suffered simular injuries, broken legs, shoulders, a wrist and an arm on opposing sides.
I was the first bike on the scene and had a couple in a car who were just getting out to aid the downed riders.
Angeles Crest Highway was closed down for 5 hours as they air lifted both out and the investigation ensued.
I had made my mind up years before, never to ride the "Crest" again due to numberous incidents (close-calls) that involved just that type of scenario. I also had a close friend of mine lowside a cruiser up there on loose gravel and tar snakes, where the passenger he was carrying died after rolling into on coming traffic; the passenger was his 12 year old daughter.
Why was I riding up there than? At the time, I was selling a RZ-350 (which I still kick myself for selling), advertised it in the Cycle Trader and a local RZ club saw it and asked if I wanted to meet up with their club to show it. Why not! Just so happend to be at "THE CREST" :o!
Turns out, one of the riders was taking his "Last Ride" before moving to Las Vegas and the other rider was a newbie, fresh out of the MSF Rider's Course :(.
On an up note: RACING IS sooooo much safer than playing Nicky Hayden on the streets. Yeah, we have our tar snakes and some loose stuff on the tracks now and then,  target fixation; well that usually happens to those behind us as we check out ;D
