Here is a topic to discuss roadrace off season training. Maybe we could all learn from each other on how to train for next season or for that next race.
Me personally hmmm I'm not going to lie... I haven't ever really trained.
I just really rode a dirt bike again for the first time in 7 years a few weeks ago. Felt right at home.
I think it would be great training aid to ride one again.
I work so much and I'm a very active person. I still run up every flight of stairs by 2 always. Sometimes by 3's.
Now that I think of it I'm going to start jogging sometime since that might cure my headaches too! ;D
Ohh I actually love doing pushups. I'll do 1000 per day sometimes. :o
What do you do?
ice riding and drinking beer(not at the same time). ;D
Running (not as much as I should), dirtbiking (I think this helps in endurance and bike control for roadracing), ice racing (more this year I hope), and stretching. I need all I can get being an old guy & all. Just don't heal like I used to.
i run about 2 miles a day. and snowboard/ski as much as i can ;D
I've run 3.5 miles everyday since April this year. If i miss a day, I double up the next day. It's more to lose the weight I gained since getting married and becoming a daddy than for racing.
Stumpy trained on his road bike all winter for the 2005 season and then, once he got outside on the road with his bike last summer and ran and won a race, he fell in love with it. He says it's the best training he's ever had in his life, period. After last summer he was in the best shape of his life, too.
There's a group of roadies he rides with so it's also something he can do as a group and have very talented riders pushing him. Like motorcyles, the crashes can be brutal, though.
He bought a bike trainer this winter like they use in spin classes and set it up so the geometry is close to his road bike.
So yes, I'd recommend the road bike to anyone looking to burn some fat/gain muscle and endurance quick.
Just don't go falling in love or Edgar will never speak to you again!
eat plenty of Mexican food...
you get fit doing short sprint and lose weight at the same time :D
I read Baker`s posts. Usually I laugh so hard I can lose up to 3 lbs a day. ;D
Mountain biking, snowboarding, Riding Moto Cross, Indoor Flat Track and TT racing (Stevenaceracing.com), I'm going to do some ice racing, the gym, racket ball, ice hockey.
Mountain Bikeing, Road Bikeing, Snowboarding, Heavy Bag, Pushups, Situps, Pullups.
I switched from mountain biking to road biking this year. For me the road bike is a much better workout. Better cardiovascular shape (resting heart rate dropped into the 40s) and lost more weight than riding a mountain bike. I rode 10 to 20 miles per day, 5 to 7 days a week. In a month I lost almost 20 lbs.
I do some weight training during the winter and have a trainer for my bike.
Haven't been doing much lately due to some knee problems, hopefully the surgeon will fix that on the 22nd.
Triathlon training for me. Swim, bike, run all week (2-3 workouts in each), with strength training at the gym 2x per week and core workouts 3x per week. I'm coming off of my rest period after a Half Ironman I just did last month. I've got several shorter tri races planned for the '06 season, and 1 or 2 Half Ironmans. Then it's a bit of rest and start training for the '07 Ironman Arizona. So all of this keeps me in shape year-round for roadracing.
Holy crap you guys work out a lot. Me...
I ran out to the mailbox the other day, cold here in Michigan.
