Title: Is it time to panic?! 2006
Post by: mike_rbm on November 12, 2005, 10:01:52 AM
I thought I'd start off the madness! (Out of curiosity more than actual real time panic.)

When will we get our applications for 2006 licenses?  ???  Road America is only 5 months away!!!  ;)

I have to keep my old number! It's lucky and I'm superstitious  ::)  and in reality - I don't want to spend another $14 on new decals to change my # plates.

How do I get a two digit number? (That 3rd digit on 3 # plates adds weight!  ;D )

I'm slow (18's at BHF) and I only have about 400 points this season but can I go expert?  :o  j/k!

Any big changes to the rules for 2006 that everyone should know about?

Applications for 2006 licenses SHOULD be out within a month, if it's the same as in the past. I remember a time when we would have them around now. As far as Expert status goes you would probably have to have a history of good finishes as an Amateur or a recommendation from someone reputable saying that you were ready for the upgrade (like a race director, instructor, or possibly another racer-preferably a front running Expert).

Your number questions are somewhat contradictory, you say it's your lucky # that must be kept, but then want to know how to get a 2 digit #. As far as 2 digit numbers go you apply for them, it's a matter of if the number is available as of a certain date. Any number (except top 10) that has not been renewed by the date specified (use to be January 1st) is thrown into the available list. If your not picky you just write on the form "any 2 digit number" as your 1st request. If you think you can actually get a specific 2 digit number, then put any specific requests in order of desire followed by the "any 2 digit number" request. If you want your current # in the event no 2 digit numbers are available write that as a last choice. Lastly the order in which they recieved the applications is the order that they issue numbers after the deadline, so get your application back to them ASAP after you recieve yours for the best chance of a new number. If you only want to keep your current number then you just need to return your application by the deadline they will have on the application. :)

With all the CCS issues and that today's the 5th of December - Do we have any update on when (or if   :-/ ) our applications for 2006 licenses should arrive?
