Title: Built-in lap timer on new R6?
Post by: Faas73 on October 25, 2005, 10:55:59 AM
Anyone know how the built-in lap timer on the 2006 R6 is supposed to work? The description reads:

"Built-in lap timer is controlled by a right-handlebar switch"

Anyone happen to know if this is a true lap timer that will tick off laps based on a signal from a beacon (mychron, etc), or is this something that you push a button each time you go around?

I'm starting my shopping for next year....trying to figure out if I need to order a lap timer. :-)

Thanks!

The way I read it, it implies a manual switch on the handlebar.....

Yeah, you really don't want a new R6, that would be a PITA!  ;D

Damn. You're right, this sucks. I'm cancelling my order. ;D  :o

Ok, so given the fact that the 'built-in' lap timer will be pulled off within 30 minutes of me picking the bike up, how about recommendations on after-market lap timers? I've been looking at the MyChron stuff, especially the MyChron Light TG Log system. I need something that can show at least temperature and lap times; the tach and speed logging seems nice too. Are there any competitors? Anyone have any experience with this product?

XT Racing makes a great lap timer and is the choice of our team. It gives the track name, temp, and keeps a log of your lap times throughout the weekend.

The XT is way cool, and Rob can set you up at Rithium.  +1 ;D
