Title: Found a can
Post by: Gixxerblade on October 16, 2005, 05:07:07 PM
I found an extra D& D slip-on in my stash. Its doesn't have any filling and the screen fell out. I re-riveted it and put it on the SV just to see what it sounds like. Its louder than heck! Can this be run with any gain/loss? Pros/cons please.

If the muffler has no packing and is missing the inner perforated tube, it more than likely will make less power and much more noise. The change in diameter will cause pressure (sound) waves to be generated at the muffler. If these waves interfere with the normal waves in the exhaust, they can cause a decrease in performance.

You could buy a tube and some packing and save it for a crash spare.

Now that I don't live in such a quiet neighborhood, I'm putting my D+D back on the FZR. Sounds SOO much better than stock!  8)
