Title: Alexa!  Wet leathers help :)
Post by: EM JAY on September 28, 2005, 06:50:19 AM
I'm sure I'm not the only one left with soaked leathers and questions on how to dry/care for them?  Any suggestions tips?  Thanks!   :-*

Dry them...

I hang mine, but they're probably better off being laid down and flipped a couple times.  Just my $.02.

If they're damp, you can hang them, but if they are soaking wet, it's best to roll them up in some old towels and squeeze out as much moisture as possible. (Do not use the wife's new towels, she will be pissed and I will come over and hold you down while she beats you with their damp remains):o Than you can put some fans in front of them to help the drying process.

If you have a removable liner take it out, remove the armor, and wash it in the machine.

Don't store your leathers in plastic, they will get mouldy, especially if there's a little moisture left in them.

This could be a good time to get them cleaned. I've covered this topic before, so if you really need the directions on it, email me.

Good luck!

Did just that!  Cool, is there an oil treatment or anything to use?  Do you do leather cleaning?

Condition them with just about any leather conditioner. Do not oil up the butt, unless you want some excitement in your next race.  ;D

I don't currently offer leather cleaning, but I'll be looking into it this winter. I'll keep you posted.

I put my leathers, boots, gloves and helmet in a small room with a dehumidifier cranked.  In 2 days, and multiple emptyings of the dehumidifier, everything was nice and dry.

Yup. She told me how you personally tested and approved of it. I don't understand why she said that you only rated it a 7 out of 10 though. Something about you prefering the black one's, if I recall?
