I have a greater appreciation for the elevation changes at Road America now. 600+ riders including some car racers from the American Lemans series. I was only able to manage four laps before I was grounded by a leg cramp. Nothing like climbing the big hill on the front straight only to be met by the smaller hill before the road starting going downhill. The climb from 5-6 wasn't that bad but from Canada to 14 was a big pain. As for turn one, you can still feel the bump on a road bike.
No disrespect to the "car" guys but we pretty much match their speeds on the front straight and through the carousel. I wasn't too impressed by the overall racing except for the braking zones

Awesome! We'd have been there, too, but Greg did the 28 mile Ore to Shore mountain bike race that same day. It was well worth his time, though! He won his age division and came in 11th overall of about 900 men after leading a portion of it (on the road of course ;) ). His goal was to win his age group this year so now it's to take the overall win next year.
Hopefully we can do this next year as the 2006 Ore to Shore is moved up a week.
Heather
I managed to do 5 laps at an average speed of 17 mph.
I was impressed by the LMP1 cars going through the kink at full throttle.
So where you on a mountain bike too? Cause that 17 mph average is impressive :D
My wife bought me a Trek 1000 for my birthday (month ago). Much easier on a roadie than on my old mountain bike. Been trying to ride 5 to 7 days a week. I didn't think I did too badly for an out of shape 42 year old.
I thought you had a type O talking about your average speed at RA. I was thinkin at about 17mph you'd get your @$$ ran over!!!
I would have liked to have done that! A whole new perspective, Heather got me the sweet Livestrong-Tour Road America jersey though, I am racing in a Wi. State championship criterium the weekend of Wegman, Just 15 minutes from Blackhawk! Can't wait. If you haven't seen a criterium it's high speeds through town, Usually some crashes, and intense racing. It will be great to see some motorcycle racing and friends too. But I will warn everyone, I may take your bike when your not watching and to a couple laps ;D
Stumpy
You guys make me want to puke. There is a reason they put motors on a bicycle! ::) ;D
I think Greg should take Edgar for a ride around Blackhawk on the Sledgehammer and see if you're still squawking about motors!!!

Why? So outta shape people with funny accents can keep up? :P
Edgar can't ride a bike.
QuoteEdgar can't ride a bike.
Is that bike as in motorcycle or bicycle? Or both?
I left it ambiguous for a reason.
Now who will have their bicycle at Blackhawk this weekend? Since the after racing pit-bike ban, a few match races for charity might work out.

Stumpy will have his road bike there for the crit in Elkhorn Saturday. I'm sure he'll be up for a "cool down" Saturday night!
And we'll have a wiener dog, too!

Heather, just an early warning that I am not responsible for whatever happens if I see him there riding a "fagcycle"!
Hey Throttle, now I am going to have to kick your a$s this weekend!!
;D ;D ;D
Edgar, you are so intimidating. Really. It's frightening. Ahhhh. :P
Anna Maria's tomorrow night? Stumpy needs to carb up for Saturday.
Heather
Edgar
you're just mad that I can go faster on my bicycle than you can on your motorcycle.
stumpy

That pic is pretty funny!
BTW, don't make me take out my intimidation routine again! I lost my voice because of it once this season already.
