Post by: Ryan125 on August 16, 2005, 04:28:13 PM
I just got home a lil while ago from the track, and I can say one thing!!! please do not coment if you have not run the track in the DRY!!!!!! I loved it!! and so did everyone else there. I have more fun on it then the main. I dont wanna here everyone posting there 2 cents if they havent run it in the dry and even more so if you havent run it at all!!! I didnt go out and tip toe around the track either, I went at it full tilt!!! Rode my 600 and 1000, the 1k was a lil much, but the 600 did it right!! I hope everyone will make up their own minds on the track and at least try it once. But I bet you will like it!!! heck everyone there could tell that I loved it. no track is perfect!!! you have to take it for what it is. Dont just pick it apart, for every lil thing that could be better, every track could be better. but anyway Ill be there racing in 10 days, havin a good ole time.

Wish I could of made it today.  Had to settle for the wet test last week.

Was any change made to the chicane on the main straight?  If not, is there any plan to?

Nope....just people who do 2:05.999 on Summit's main.

J/K.......I hope it's safe because I plan to race.......I just don't want to DIE because I low sided at 30mph and hit a wall 10 ft from the track.

We tested the Shenandoh on May 2 and then had a Motorcycle Excitement Track Day on May 5. The first day went good with some very experienced racers shaking it down. One of the racers is a national Champion and track record holder. The others had many years of racing under their belts and I can believe what they say. On May 5 we had 20 riders, no incidents, and a lot of smiles! The track is very challenging and technical. It will make you think and work. Once you figure out where to go, the work becomes fun! I rode an ex-Jordan GSXR 1000 superbike. (Thanks George) This bike is more than most people can handle, including me, but hey I did it and liked it.

I have heard of more "proposed" tracks then what we actually have to race on. I say let's work with the tracks we have and fine tune it to our needs. The owner of Summit Point, Mr Bill Scott, likes us motorcycle people. He will work with us. He already has. Look at turn 4 runoff. That was "Move the Mountain" 3 years ago. For the racers, by the racers. If you have a problem, come up with some solutions and put them on the table. Don't knock something you have not tried. If you feel it is not right for you, go with your feelings. But don't try to ruin some one else's desire, just because of something some anonymous whiner said on a web site.
Race safe and have fun! See you at the track.

I RODE THE SHEnendoah track at the initial bike test, i found it fun and technical, with not as much runoff as i would like, but as good or better than other tracks we race, (loudon, pocono), not the perfect track , but what is (VIR!), the track is not as bad as most people seem to think, Ill be at the first race>

Ryan, what was done to change the chicane on the main straight that turned right toward the wall ? Were there any other changes made to the configuration ? I hope I am wrong about the place, I guess we will know better after an actual race weekend. Hopefully all the foam bails and airfence will work well. How many people were there riding at this test? Maybe I will come out on Saturday and give it another look.

on the main straight, there will be cones that will make you come in from the left side of the track, so you cant just shoot straight through. we went through just about everything, and all came out good.
oh and the guy that made the 2:05 comment you should really know who your talking about when you make STUPID comments.

i would like to thank everyone that worked with us at the different tests (that means you too Roger, your input helped get things done much quicker), we learned a lot and Bill Scott has promised to keep improving the course as much as he can.

The cones Ryan talked about will be replaced with one of the soft barriers that BSR has purchased to make the chicane more of an exagerated right-left-right until BSR can re-shape the chicane and eliminate the need for the temporary fix.

By the way, Ryan set a good mark to shoot for at 1:36.5 on his 600. The SV crowd was lapping in the 1:40-1:41 range.

Please go to the CCS website and look at the new schedule and track map that is posted, you will see that we have split all but three classes in to separate Amatuer/Expert races and if we get heavy entries in those three we will split them to.

See you at the races.
