Howdy all! We're doing some safety testing at Shenandoah tomorrow and would like some volunteers to hang out on corners. You don't have to get dirty or anything, but you'll be one of the first to see action on Summit's new course!
FYI-We're doing this testing to determine where airfence goes, where the starting line should be placed, where the racing lines are, etc. If you'd like to be part of CCS history, please come out and join us! All you've got to do is show up around 7am and let the gate personnel know you're there for the testing sessions on Shenandoah. They'll take it from there.

Take my spot. My bike was not running right at the track day on Summit Main so I took it to a shop this afternoon.
8am to 9am track set-up and instructions
9am to Noon Testing
Meet us there at 8am so we can go over the objectives and show the riders the course we will use.
Input will be taken from the riders who take part, just as we have the last two times we put motorcycles on the track.
We look forward to the participation of those who are willing to help in a realistic evaluation of this facility.

Will their be a post test report to let everyone know what happened at the test, and what ccs is going to do.
Thanks Smoke, but the downpouring rain kept me in bed longer this morning. I am assuming it is all wet up there ( I am 30 min SE of the track) so I passed on the whole thing.

As most of you know it was rainging at Summit Point today, and although we appreciate the opportunity Mother Nature gave us to do rain testing we still need to test in the dry. That said, we'll be doing another round of testing on the afternoon of August 16th and all day on the 17th. Read the info above from Kevin and if you're interested, come on out. If you aren't interested in riding, maybe you'd like to be a spotter! We're needing 4-5 spotters out on course to keep an eye on your buddies. See same info above.
FYI--The guys who went out and rode today LOVED the track and its new changes. The two chicanes are in now, so everything looks good.

Well, not exactly.
The back straight chicane is biggest issue for those of us who rode today. It aims us straight at a wall. And then when exiting the chicane we were just 2-3ft, maybe closer for some of us, from the wall which did not have a soft barrier in front of it at the time.
The other chicane needs a little refining in order to remain fully effective.
Because of the rain I ended up riding my DR650 and even on it I was doing 65-70mph through the chicane
Riders of big bikes will not like the track. However my DR was well suited for it. Top speed attained was about 85mph, but I could probably top it out in the dry. I wish I could've ridden my SV on a dry track.

I was also one of the riders and concur with SVbadguy. I didn't here anybody say they LOVED it today. All six of us didn't like it much. Unfortunately it was wet all day and we didn't get a real good test. Two of the six riders crashed in one of the 1st gear off camber corners. The chicane that SV mentioned is not fixable in its current configuration. I speculate that most crashes are going to cause red flags because there is nowhere for the bikes to go since the track is lined on both sides by concrete walls and will be near impossible to retrieve a bike from the track while the races are running. The size of the paddock will be barely sufficient as long as the turn out is light. If you plan on racing there bring some big rear sprockets as it is very tight and technical. Never got out of 3rd gear today in the wet. Like SV said , the track should be ok for the lightweight bikes if the grids aren't too big, but I am not so sure about forty 600s on that track together. This is just my opinion, maybe the others will put theirs on here as well. Everybody needs to decide for themselves if they want to ride at this place.

Thanks for the feedback, now I have somewhat of an idea on what to expect. For SV's or any lightweight rider, what gearing would you or anyone use for this track. If I wasn't running for points I would most likely skip this track.

I don't know but I would've been running the lowest gearing that I currently have, 15/47. It should be close enough.
I think I could scare up a couple workers to help out. I've been looking for an excuse to call in sick next week anyhow...hehe
Not sure about loving the track- although as close as I got to it you'd think i'd like it better!
The second chcane is the biggest problem- I can't see a fix that doesn't require laying new asphalt. I'm not a safety expert but i don't think haybales or airfence would fix it.
