Title: Transponder Holder
Post by: tomespo214 on July 27, 2005, 07:53:51 AM
I've got a 03 zx6r with hotbodies bodywork all around.  I've noticed that there are some holes in the tail section for a transponder holder.  I have also seen guys attach them to their forks.

Is there a "best" way to attach these things?  Also, where do you find the little gismos that hold them to the forks or to the tail section.

I was planning on using some zip ties, but a real transponder holder would be nice.

CCS requires them to be mounted to the rear end.  Supposed to be directly above the rear axle.

Other orgs have them on the front fork.  You won't pass tech with that setup in CCS.

CCS ran out of the brackets, but may have more when you show up this weekend.  If not, you're stuck engineering something.

Personally I wish they would make a standardized location to mount them. Makes it easier when cornerworkers get a call on teh radio asking if anyone sees such and such numbers transmitters. Some are hard to see if mounted under the tail.

Along the lines of what Jef4y said above, WERA requires their transponder to be mounted on the fork.  But then again, if you plan to participate in both orgnaizations you should know the transponders are of different sizes.

So, you could have both locations.  I use zip ties to mount the CCS transponder on the tail.  Works well and doesn't look bad.
