Title: BIG CRASH Turn#6 BHF on 7/17
Post by: 69Heath on July 21, 2005, 12:31:55 PM
We are looking for information regarding the crash in Turn 6 during the Unlimited GP race on Sunday.  We need to know how the racer landed to make sure we get all possible injuries check out.

So far we suffered a severe concussion and a fractured ankle.  Discriptions of how the racer was ejected and how he landed on the ground would help.  Because of the concussion the racer does not remember that race or the rest of the day!  Thanks!

I only saw Heath when the race was stopped. I hope he is okay.
Where he ended up, I would have to guess it was a hi-side.

I know this isn't very helpful.

It was a highside coming out of the turn.  The bike threw him straight up into the air, he came down head first onto the track while the rear of the bike looked like it flipped over landed on him.  Once his head/shoulders contacted the track, his legs followed over and hit the track surface.  After that, it was a combined bike/rider tumble and slide up to the gate.  It took about 25 seconds from where I was before I saw any movement while the corner worker was waving flags.  He started moving his arms, then sat up, stood up, and sat down again.  When the ambulance arrived, he got up and stepped inside.

Seemed like he was having some issues with the heat, I saw from trying to catch up with his 1000 a couple of times on the lap before.  Spun it up out of 6, caught, then spun it again and high sided rather well.  Shot him into the middle of the track, and the three of us chasing him almost got collected.

Concussed?  Yeah.  Definitely, as he was lying in a strange position that his body seemed to like when we came around after we got the red flag.

Couldn't tell how he exactly landed, but does seem like I saw his feet way in the air.

Thank you "Team G".  That was a very good description of what happened.  We did not know he landed directly on his head and also did not know that the bike hit him.  We took a look at the bike again and their is yellow on his rear tire from his leathers so this does make sense.  Thanks again!

I was parked waiting at the gate to leave.  That is pretty much what i saw.  I think he moved/rolled off the track by himself after he landed. (not entirely sure)  Then he just kind of layed there.  Im not sure how much he hit the bike on the way down from the high side, or how hard it hit him after he smacked the asphault.
