Title: Formula USA Team Challenge
Post by: wvracer97 on June 02, 2005, 07:55:58 AM
What a weekend!  I was given the opportunity to ride with the Yochum Motorsports Team for the TC and did awesome!  What a great bunch of guys.

When it was all said and done I was standing in the winners circle with a first in class and third overall on a bike I haven't ever rode before that morning.

HOWEVER, there seems to be some controversy as to the results.  I was on bike 197, and anyone that was there that day saw me lead the first dozen laps in the rain and lap half the field.  I had at least the entire front straight on  everyone.  Then there was a red flag and all of the sudden we are gridded way down in the order and apparently I was clocked with over a three minute lap time.  At no time was I ever out of the lead or off the track prior to the red flag.  So this makes me think somewhere along the way I was either missed or docked a lap in conjunction with the red flag incident.  Beggs and the #4 team even made a pit stop during the race and we never did.  I was the only rider on the bike the entire length of the race.  Yes, this was legal due to the fact that CCS stopped the clock (which throws out the required rider change.)  So. I'm still wondering what happened.  What I do know is that there was a mistake made on the lap 18 red flag, we just can't figure it out!  Anyway, it was awesome to be in the winners circle with my friends and family for the first time.  Thanks again to Yochum Motorsports and I look forward to riding with you up in Loudon.

Welcome to CCS.  It's a fairly regular occurrence.  They have a really hard time keeping the TC scoring right.

They had SV650s gridden ahead of us on the restart at freakin' Daytona (ya right!)  We went from leading overall at Barber last year - to 7th.

You really can't take TC seriously, because it's a total crapshoot whether you'll actually be scored properly or not.

3.4.4.N (1.) Riders will be given credit for the laps completed as they cross the finish line
in the lap preceding the lap in which the red flag has been displayed. The riders
will be re-gridded as to the running order of that last complete lap. This means
the position on the track, not the position in the race.

This sometimes confuses people the only person in the position they were in in race and also on grid will be the leader. All riders that the leader passed and second place had not passed  will be gridded in between those that second place passed and third had not will be in between them and so on. So first could be gridded on pole and second could be in last place on the grid for a restart.

Scott, you don't happen to have Calvin's phone number, do you?  The one that I have no longer works.

If you have it PM me so that you don't have to place it on the board.  Thanks.

Scott is Lying, I saw the whole race.... He was WAAAY back.  He is just trying to take advantage of a confusing situation.  Don't any one be fooled by him.  I have pictures of him running off in turn 5 and went straight across 8 and off that side of the track.  He had to turn around and come back on the track.

But... should a mysterious envelop of money appear at my house... those pictures just might not make it to CCS  ;)

You must have meant that the Fast Lane guys must have ran off.  I never did, but I would like seeing the pictures you have of me supposedly going off, 'cause it didn't happen.  Oh, and calling me a liar isn't a very nice thing to say...

If you are really bored, start a rumor that he won a championship in Venezuela.

Good one ;)

Hey Mel-- you too can have a pit crew like mine, you just have to live in my nutty neighborhood and feed em ALOT of beer :D

Oh, and did I mention I won the National Championship in Poland?? (all I needed to move on to MotoGP was to remove the pedals and install an engine).

I will be running the Team Challenge at VIR.  I have never done this race.  Anything that I need to know.

How do I go about getting a hot pit section?  Are they just first come first sever?

The pits are first come first serve.  You will want to have a generator because there is no power on hotpit.  Remember that you have to have at least one rider change and when you do refueling you will need at least one person with a fire extinguisher while refueling.  I also recommend to have all the necessary tools "just in case."  For a full breakdown on the rules and such read the CCS/FUSA rulebook... I think it's all covered in there.

Most of all--  and this is the most important thing-- have fun and enjoy the experience ;D
