Title: 600 vs thou lap times
Post by: Scott on June 02, 2005, 07:38:53 AM
Just out of curiosity, anyone know the difference in lap times between a 600 and a 1000?

Not in general, but specifically, the difference in time, say at BHF, of exceptionally fast guys who ride both.

Like Denning, Conrad, Janisch, Junge, etc.

Not much.  Maybe a second at BHF.  Most guys I've seen, with the exception of Denning and Conrad, run just about the same times on the 1000s as they do their 600s.

Larry D's times according to him, were averaging about .75 of a second faster on his 1000 to his 600, same with THE fast guy Rob Jensen

I looked at the AMA Superstock and Supersport times once last year at half a dozen tracks. My memory is that that 600s were runing around 3% slower. So, a track like BHF that would calculate out to be a little less than 2 seconds.

At a track like BHF, I would say that you have to be a fast guy like Denning or Jensen to go faster on a 1000.  I know a few people that are faster on thier 600s than they are on thier 1000s.

I know that I wish I had my old 750 back.  My 1000 is too much work!
