Just curious what everyone would do.
I'd do all 7 laps... Granted, I'd do the 1st one nice and careful to not crash on it, but after that, I'd run it.
If you're the only one on the grid, you're gonna be running with other classes. I'd use that as racing practice...
What if you were the first group on the grid, and faster than the other classes on the grid with you? Would you still do it? Or save gas/tires and pit in?
if i paid the entry fee then i'd tip toe the first lap then let her rip for all the rest.
especially if i were on a diesel,
if on the smoker, and/or if i were running out of miles on pistons or a crank i'd maybe just do the one lap.
I voted that I would do all of the laps only because i paid for them and who knows the next time I will be able to ride, however, after thinking about it, I may forego all 7 laps if the org was way behind like it was at Summit Point this weekend. Not the orgs fault it was crashes really. But in all in all fairness to the other riders I would pull in after one lap.
I'd still do it. I just really enjoy racing...
If I wanna save tires, I'll run short practices, accomplishing the goal I set out for. If the race gets unsafe due to me or an external condition (white-caps in T8 at Road A), I'll come in. If not, I'm running it...

Been there. ASMA runs Modern Vintage and Beginner as a two way start. 2 rounds ago I was the only modern vintage bike. My motivation was to see how many beginners I could lap ;D. Yes, I was nice when I passed and didn't stuff any of them :)
If there were no other classes on the track, I would probably just do the one lap. No reason to tie up everyone else's time. Unless maybe I wanted to try out a gearing change or something like that.
-z.
I'd run all the laps. ;D
For those of you who mentioned slowing down; have you ever had such a lead that when you slowed down you lost your rhythm, made mistakes and just about pitched it? :o
I'd just stay on a race pace and gain the seat time, why not, you paid for the entry.
Do all 7. If the weather was crap i would probally take it nice and easy to get some more crap weather seat time. If it was nice out...LET ER RIP!!!
I paid for the track time! Hell yeah I'd do all 7 laps!
I paid to ride...Im getting the track time!
This happens to me all the time in AM Lightwieght Formula 40... I run them all....it's seat time! 8)
I had this happen to me 2 years ago at a CCS Vegas race (back when we had SuperSingles). I was the only rider on the grid, and there wasn't a combined class running. So I was the only one out there on the track. I took one lap and came in. It was summer in Vegas, and I didn't want to make the cornerworkers sit out there in the heat any longer then they had to. If it's a combined grid and I'm the only one in my class, then I'll do all the laps because I'm not the only one on the track.

But, you didn't pass me!
I'd do all the laps unless it was hot, or the other races had been running late...
