So how'd it go up north there, eh? Looked like you had good weather you know. ???
Well I for one, hard a great time.
Weather was pretty good Friday-Sunday.
Turn 4 was a beast all weekend.
I was alot slower then I thought I was going to be...
Atleast my bike is running like a top now ;D
There was alot of old faces there.
Not to meantion, putting a few faces to board name, which is always fun.
C'ya all down there in a few weeks
XIII
Andy Feuer... crashed at least 3 times. Once in T4 his bike was at least 15 feet in the air and almost went over the spectator fence. He was ok, but he was not a happy boy. Denning, Conrad and Gill pretty much wiped up. Gill Highsided Ytaks 250 pretty hard at the entry to T4. Rung his bell but otherwise OK. GSXR Mike appeared to have a pretty respectable weekend, but we'll let him give a race report.
Ed Key won a bunch (surprise!), but had some electrical issues in the last race. Bernie did fairly well.
The Lithium guys did pretty well and had a lot of fun Saturday night. :o ;) ;D
Fairly light turnout. Clean most of Saturday, Sunday was more crash happy.
Oh yeah, the weather was perfact and it was a blast!
:D
Pretty much what Alexa said...
My weekend's Hero is a friend of a friend who pit'ed with us. He's a newbie on an RC-51. Ran the school on Saturday and went on to a 4th place in unlimited whatever on Sun and a WIN in super twins...
A win in the Learning Curves t-shirt... how cool is that?!?!
Not ALL the LM crew had a LOT of fun Saturday, I must note! The Polish contingent scared us off right to bed.
Stumpy had a good weekend. Things were finally coming back together and we were pleased by the time we left. He also got some good footage for Motovid during races. We had to watch the DVD when we got home at 1:00am last night!
Andy, I hope you're ok. That crash in the oil looked terrible. It killed me to watch all those bikes go flying past the checkered flag into turn one and oil. That was bad.
See everyone Memorial Day weekend!
Heather
i got a 4th and 5th !!
But i was still a second slower than my best times from last year.
Great weather on sunday !
QuoteGSXR Mike appeared to have a pretty respectable weekend, but we'll let him give a race report. :D
I did the GTO race on Saturday as a practice session more or less. Each season when I do the 1st small track event it seems like I will often times end up with arm pump the 1st day, but be fine the 2nd day, which was the case at this event. I had to come in after a number of laps because I couldn't really grip the bars anymore, kinda wild how it happens pretty much every season.
Sunday I went out in the 1st race of the day and felt good on the track, though I was at the back of the Experts. I came in from that race feeling extremely hot and only had 1 race break to cool down till I was back out racing again. I went out in the next race and started feeling sick from the heat so I had to come in early. After that I couldn't race the rest of the day, kinda sucks I've been effected by heat like that my entire life. :-/
sounds like you need to try the training (jogging, riding bike whatever, 12 oz curls) while having the heat on 85 and wearing a sweatshirt. and not drinking water.
whoever said this
"What doesnt kill you, only make you stronger"
Your body will begin to get used to the hipo activity in the heat.
Or you'll have a stroke. :(
I quit drinking so much water while working out, cause it just made me used to getting water while working out.
It's weird though about the overheating problem, I've had it all my life, no matter what shape I was in. As a senior in high school I was in excellent shape, working out everyday, 5'-10" 165 lbs. but I still was effected. I learned at a young age when I have to stop being active if I'm getting too hot. This is why you will see me only do a few laps in each class at some events during the season where the weather is really hot. I know my limits and when I am putting myself or others at risk because of it, so I will come in before it gets to that point.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the event very much, I just have to deal with this. :)
that is weird.
I was too busy with 5 races on sunday to find you and say hi.
we all got our problems.
my lower back SI joints are screwed !!
I finally did my first bike race. Middleweight Supersport and Superbike. That was a wake up call!!! This bike racing is a lot different than my SCCA racing. I love it and can say I am hooked. I did acheive my 2 goals for the weekend, do not wreck and not finish last. I did both with flying colors. I cant wait for the next race at BHF at the end of the month!!!!!!!!!!
Well it wasn't too bad but not too good ;)
I fell again.....
Did a bunch of low 12s with some issues....but........
Brian was the local guy to beat....
Larry and Shawn were flying...
BUT the weather was good finally.....
Does anyone know how the racer turned out that crashed hard at turn 4 (right in front of the bleachers) in the last race of the day on Saturday? I saw that they strapped him down to the back board, just curious how he is?
I think it was Andy....
QuoteI think it was Andy....
No it was AM 302 in Formula 40

Thunderracing91, are you the new racer I spoke with who used to work at the Harley dealer?
Friday practice was just awesome... I was clicking off times that were a tad faster than what I was doing before last Memorial Day (and with a LOT less effort). THANK YOU, SUPER DAVE FOR SETTING UP MY BIKE!!! :D
Sunday's 4 sprint races were all good - I managed an 8th in ULSS ;D ;D and avoided being last in all but SuperTwins - thanks to a botched start and a mechanical on the very last lap.
Those new multi-compound Michelins are the bomb - except that we put the WRONG ones on the bike. Couldn't understand how come my rear was SHREDDING by the 2nd race on Sunday... spent all day Monday trying to compensate by adjusting the suspension (and making the bike ICKY in the process)... just before the last session of the day, Tom (Mason) pointed out that we had selected the SOFTEST of the three sets we'd purchased (intended for use at Road "A" last month). >:( What a waste. Threw a "medium" on the back, returned the suspension to where it was "supposed" to be and went out for the final session - bike felt much, much better.
Looks like I've got lots of catching up to do... all my old "playmates" have either gone expert or gotten way, way faster!

Yep that would be me. Will you be at BHF the end of may?? I am pretty positive I will be there.......

[enrique iglesias] I can beeeeEEEEeeee your hero.... [/enrique iglesias] ;)
I had a blast.. I had to wear the shirt just because nobody else was, and I know I recognized a few other bikes from the class on saturday so I wasn't the only new guy racing! ;D I'm hooked now though, I can't wait until memorial day weekend to do it again!

I'll be there. Probably pitted in the same location. Hope to see you there.
Do you remember the name and/or number of the guy pitted on the other side of you? The rider of the blue SV/white leathers who crashed twice during the weekend? I'm thinking it was Kevin? I want to follow up with him on his suspension set up and some other stuff.

I never got his name. That was really weird how his bike was handling. Something was really fishy there. Do you have some basic suspension settings for the firebolt?? I have the ones out of the manual but I didnt know if there would be something better for my weight and track set up? I am about 160 in my gear. I actually start working at the H-D dealership again next week....

If anyone knows who this is or how to contact this amatuer racer, I would appreciate the info. He was on an ex-Lee Davis Jr. SV 650. Blue bike. White leathers. Crashed twice at BFR last weekend.
Thunderracing91, I'll send you a PM with set-up info. Does that mean you're race prepping the XB?
I was the rider that crashed twice at Blackhawk. I think I might have a suspension issue. Hopefully its not me. If anyone can please help me out I'd greatly appreciate it. Three times I've lowsided in turns and I'm not really pushing it. I also put on new tires too and still crashed. I have on it Ohlins rear and Traxxion front.
I can explain more if you would like
My e-mail is kevinstl1000s@uwalumni.com
Thanks

Yah I think I might. I might check around on the net for another XB9R that is already prepped but if it comes down to it I might prep the one in the shop. Email me at thunderracing191@hotmail.com

Everything he knows he learned from me! ;) Well maybe not, but I can I'll claim it anyways ;D Great job Greg!
John, I think he owes it to his pit crew... Oh wait.. that would be you! ;D
You both were pretty good umbrella girls during my first race... 8)
I posted some crash pictures from Blackhawk turn 4 on Sunday. Trying something new, hope it works. the file size is rather large.

Nice pics of one of our teammates highsiding. That is Mark Schnettler on the black and yellow honda. Good shooting.
how did dan doty fair on the weekend? i c that in 1 of the crash pics it appears he was running in the grass?
Doty did okay. I don't think he won anything, but I'm sure he got wood. He was up there...
Doty did an outstanding job of avoiding Mark and did drive off into the grass and fall down to avoid him. We all appreciate his quick thinking and reaction time in that situation.
man do i look good in those pictures ;D
i had fun avoiding those 2 crashes that happened right in front of me, they both happened so fast
Ok... now that I have a little time. (I put in 62 hours at work this week) ???
First off, BHF was a absolute blast last weekend! It was like a big ole family reunion!
I decided to do the Friday practice and man did I need it. It took a few sessions to get back up to speed, but by the end of the day I was feeling great!
On Saturday I ran Thunderbike and LW F-40. In Thunder I took 6th and in LW F-40 I took anoter 1st. YEA!
Oh... and the weather was great!
On Sunday I found out who the compitition was! Wow. We really had some great racing going on.
On Sunday I did LW SS, LW GP, and Supertwins.
In the LW SS race I took a 3rd after everything was said and done. I actually took 5th but 2 racers were DQ'd. The winner of the race was Ryan Hall but being a stand up guy that he and his dad is, they found out that his bike was not legal for the class so he DQ'd himself after the race.
That took a lot of integerity to do! (how many of you would have done that?) Kudos to the Hall family!
Onward... In LW GP I took 6th and in Supertwins I took a 5th.
All in all it was a awsome weekend for me with the exception of my little excursions off of turn 3. In the LW GP race I was about 4th in line after the 1st lap so I was getting on the gas HARD through turn 2 and discovered I was way to far inside so I stood it up and ran straight off into T-3. WOW! What a ride! I managed to hit the brakes hard just before I ran off so I scrubed off enough speed to keep it upright and make a big ole arc back onto the track.
On the other incident in Supertwins, I was about into lap 5 I think, I was going into T-3 and out of nowhere this (expert) cuts to my inside just at the apex of 3 and then ran wide. Ran me completly off the track between 3 and 4. That was a complete boneheaded and dangerous move. I couldnt believe it! And comming back onto the track I saw who he was racing with.... NOBODY! It was just me and him. What an idiot! I managed to keep the bike upright and got back on just before T-4.
Testemant to Rick Brewer... Quote "most racers crash because they simply give up" Well, that statement was ringing in my head while I was in the grass. I never gave up and managed to finish all my races.
All in all I had a blast. I also ran my fastest times ever at BHF during the LW SS race. I ran a 1:22.633 I bested my time from the end of the season last year by over 2 seconds. I think I can squeeze another couple of sec's off next time at BHF.
All in all I have had a great start to the season. The bike is running top notch and I am feeling really good about my riding this season.
"I love the smell of race gas in the morning.... Smells like VICTORY"!
Bernie!
Oh... I almost forgot. I also got to put a few faces to some of the racers on this board. GSXR RACER MIKE, Xian, and a coupe of more. It was a fun, fun weekend. ;D
Bernie!
