Title: Dare to dream!
Post by: Fat_Nate on May 05, 2005, 06:22:32 AM
If I were to race a supersport SV650 "up" a class, where would I be likely to have the most fun?  Middleweight SS?  SuperTwins? Elsewhere?

Or . . . is it just silly to do such a thing?

I prefer to ride supertwins than any middleweight class.

Middleweight GP?   I'd think Middleweight SS... less modifications for the bigger bikes, meaning more better you'd do on a SuckV650

Don't listen to anyone that runs them weed-wacker bikes.
 ;D

Supertwins is probably the best one to go for.
But beware!!!  Some of those guys really need to park those heavier bikes in the turns.

(Hey, that's how the 2smoke guys feel about us!)

Nate, you're from the Florida region right?

You're racing all the Lightweight classes already?

I think Moroso has a pretty long straight, which is going to play a factor in things your way.  Pretty different from a lot of places where there isn't such a long run.

Supertwins is definitely more of a gentlemanly class, per se;  you're not going to have to deal with hyped up individual amateurs on 600's.  That would be the one that I would look at.  There aren't many twins out there.  TLR's, RC51's, the Ducati's, and Aprilia's don't make up a huge population of racing twins out there, so the SV would be great.

My opinion at least.

I won a few Supertwins races as well as the championship on the SV, but I'll tell you, it sure was a lot of fun running the SV in the Middleweight class! Yes, they will motor you ont he straights, but you can make up a lot of ground on them in the corners/braking, and it just pisses them off when you beat them. Granted, I think my best finish on the SV in Middleweight was something like 8th...

Add Super Twins to your list, I did it on a 1999 Super Hawk, stock except for cans, and did well in the end. It is more Gentlemanly as Super Dave stated.
Did have some SV's pull me on the straights and certainly through the corners.
I'm out with broken ribs, so thats 1 position for free.
This is a class "with" class and needs more support.
Have fun.

Nate, was it you looking for a lighter trailer a few weeks ago?  I still have a 5x8 enclosed for sale.

SD -- Yes, I'm in Florida and doing all the LW races.  LWSS and LWSB run in the same race often, though, so it ends up being Thunderbikes, LWSS, and GTL.  I wouldn't mind adding SuperTwins . .. I'll be on a slower bike, but it sounds like fun.
