Title: Safety Wire Rquirements
Post by: Faas73 on February 14, 2006, 07:41:03 AM
Please forgive me if this is a stupid question, but this is the first time I've prepped a NEW bike from scratch. My other racebikes were all pre-owned and pre-wired...

Reading over the rulebook, am I correct in understanding that the following is a complete list of the bolts REQUIRED to be safety-wired to pass inspection?

- Oil drain bolt
- Coolant drain bolt
- Oil fill cap

The reason I ask is that a whole slew of bolts on my last bike were drilled and wired when I got it (axle, pinch bolts, caliper bolts, etc). Is that a WERA requirement or am I missing something in the rulebook?

I understand wiring other bolts may be a good idea; I'm just looking for confirmation that I'm understanding the REQUIRED bolts correctly.

Thanks.

Oil filter and any bolts for oil cooler or external oil lines.

WERA requires much more to be wired than CCS.

Don't forget about the  oil drain plug too!
