Title: Pain and suffering

Congratulations Chris.

This is the best thing you could ever do for your self. I kicked a 2 pack/day habit 17 years ago and you cannot believe the difference it makes in your life. At 1 week you don't wake up hacking out a lung anymore, you don't have to go outside to smoke, you won't be out of breath after 3 back to back track sessions (god I envy you for that)

Seriously Chris, stick with it, the pain comes in 2's, 2 hours, 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months and when you make 2 years your are absolutly home free. If you ever need any support of anykind call 847-254-2845 me, PM me, email me, stop by my pit, anything.

Big step you will never regret. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Way to go. 72 hours to get the majority of the chemicals out, 3 weeks to forget the worst of the bad habit. Find some chewing gum you like...

Woohoo! The pain and suffering is your body recovering from poisoning. It's all good. You're just gonna have to come up with a new vice. Maybe stunting?  :lmao:
Luv ya man...hang in there!

I was really starting to feel it on the bike this summer.  That hadn't been a noticable problem before.  Forget all the warnings and bullshit like that, but when I start wondering if I'm gonna have a coughing fit in the middle of a session, the problem finally had my attention.
So between that and the assinine taxes that the government seems to think are reasonable....  I mean, it's not even hard to spend $10 or more a day on cigarettes these days, and rumor has it that the price is going up another buck a pack after New Years.  Well, even as miserable as I am now with the withdrawal, not quitting just doesn't seem like an option any more.
I figure the reason people  (as in ME) don't quit is because of the suffering required to break the addiction.  But the health and financial penalties have finally outweighed the agony of withdrawal for me.  I truly believe I'm done for good this time.

Rob and I were discussing plans for 2007, and the stuff we stirred up made me want to smoke a whole carton in one drag! :ahhh:  But at the same time, it was that much more incentive to quit.  Full speed ahead!  There are new worlds to conquer!

He wants me to crew for him at the Malaysian GP Makao Street Race, followed by the Isle of Mann!  Woo Hoo!  Plus that, at both events Rob wants to run a 1300 'Busa-equipped sidecar rig, and he's offered me the monkey seat.  He says that with my additional ballast in the curves, we can't lose!  It's all-expenses-paid for me, so how could I say no?  I trust Rob, really I do.... :ahhh:

Congrats man, hang in there!

Quitting sucks. Tried everything.  Even hypnotism.  Three times.  Couldn't wait to get out of there so I could light up.  Finally used the patch exactly as directed to take the edge off and after several attempts and several years I kicked its ass instead of the other way around.

For me at first it was constant torture with a few moments I'd forget about the craving sprinkled in between.  Eventually those moments got slightly longer.  Finally they exceeded the time I spent craving.

I don't care what they say about the half life of nicotine and the chemical only in your system for x days.  It's BS.  The addiction lasts very long and you have to be patient, knowing that you will get better.

You can do it.  I've seen how you look when you want to kick ass so I know you can do it.

The "Things that will suck," no problem.  Morning coffee does not require a cig for me.  Parties and bars?  Not my scene.  My problems are stress and excitement.
Your list of things that will get better?  Oh man, I hope so!  Sex, laughing and racing are my favorite stuff!  And I don't sleep very well now, so any help there would be great.

It's weird to take a deep breath and not cough.  In fact, it's weird that I no longer spend the first 10 minutes of my drive to work hacking up a lung.  All this and it's only day 11?

Congrat's man - you can do it! I tried the patch 7 years ago and quit for 3 months but was stupid and gave in one night out with my friends. Got hooked again just like that.

Yesterday was my 30 day mark of being smoke free. I am using the patch again and I know I cannot give into the temptation of how good it really looks. I remember that night 7 years ago of what a frickin buzz I got and how it felt good to be smoking while being pissed up with my good friends. The next day while I was outside smoking I was truly disappointed with myself and embarrassed of how I gave into the temptation after how hard I worked at quiting.

Just stay strong; you'll have your bad moments - I still have them but they go away! :)

Man, I just can't put into words how happy I am to have held out this long.  I was just sick of being a smoker!

Congrats on your stoppage!
I smoked for 38 years, same brand, never thought I could even think about quiting. July 4th. I caught a cold, hard to inhale, took advantage of the 3 day lay-off, been offfff since!
Tasting more, smelling more, breathing better, thinking better, feeling better, except for the one thing, weight, I've gained 15 pounds. I think it may be going down a little, but still not good.
Salad, Salad, Salad.

Congrats to ya Chris!!!
