CCS forum vs. WERA bbs
« on: January 28, 2011, 10:01:08 AM »
Having been on the WERA bbs for over 9 years now, I've got to say that the CCS forum seems like it has way fewer haters posting.  The thing that really iritates me on the WERA bbs is non-racers making posts like they are experts in the art of motorcycle racing.    I guess I'm just trying to find a new home that has sane, reasonable conversations taking place.  Hopefully, time will tell me if this forum is it.

CCS forum Total Members: 6546 vs. WERA forum Members: 42,776. its pretty quiet in here since most are racers like you said. I would bet there probably 100 or so that do most of the posting and replies

I'm one of the top contributors on the WERA beeb.

If you can learn to navigate the nonsense, there's good people and good info over there.

That said, the discussions here are less robust due to the lack of participants.
Should this forum grow, you will see some of the same issues as that's just what happens when stuff gets that big.

Oh, I know ALL about the WERA bbs.  I've got over 3,000 posts without trying.  In particular, I'm tired of all the bs in the general section.  It has gone downhill the past year.  It's even become like a little clique in ways.  I'll still lurk there some but I've grown tired of it.

I am turning into an alien over  time since I race a 2-stroke.  My latest creation is a hybrid Aprilia RS250 with Yamaha RZ350 installed.  The RZ engine has a Trinity 396cc kit in it.  It's great fun.  Hopefully I can go bar to bar with some of you SV and Ducati riders.

Two strokes are cool I've got an antique rs 125 but i'm about 100lbs two heavy to ride it. My friend mark brown is a nut about odd two strokes I know he's playing with a tz750 sidecar motor not sure what its going in he's also a super fast rider when he's talked out of retirement

I know Mark and he knows me.  Last time we raced against each other it was at JGP several years ago.  He was on a TZ350 and I was on my RZ350 racing in WERA  vintage.  I think I beat him by about 5 seconds or so.  Mark is a good guy and I enjoyed racing against him.

It's just a different group of people.  Either site can get you the same general information if you have a serious question.  The WERA board just has 10x the people who will reply just to reply.

If you look at the posts here versus there, (and mind you, I'm not saying either is better or worse, just pointing out a difference), you will see that posts here generally have a hell of a lot more text in the replies than the posts on the WERA forum which tend to be "2XIDB! LOL"

So basically, I look at it as here you don't have to weed through so much stuff.  But the drawback is that there isn't all that "stuff" to kill time with...

I like CMRA's approach.  If you're not a registered racer, you have limited participation.  One thread got me really heated up - this non-racer started making pronouncements about new Big Big Endurance rules - sounded like a real authority - had to bite my keyboard on that one.  I F!@#$%g hate opinionated, ignorant people - if you know what you're talking about, then feel free to express an intelligent opinion, otherwise read and learn.
Oh and it's clear to me that all Ducati/Buell/Bimota racers are all cheaters..... I'm waiting for the bombs to go off!!!  But seriously I have no problem competing against them because although they make more power, they are generally heavier are are typically much tougher to ride than an SV - but I digress.
Most racers post their race #s so you know they are the real deal.  Can't slam track day guys too much because they are some of my best customers and at least are smart enough to take it off the street.  The street guys....on the other hand
