2010 safety wire reqs
« on: March 11, 2010, 01:19:08 PM »
5.2.16 All engine, transmission, and final drive unit drain plugs and filler caps
must be visibly safety wired. Oil filter bolts must be secured with safety
wire and spin-on oil filters must be secured with a metal clamp and
safety wire or other acceptable means. Fuel and radiator caps are
exempt.

Is this all that is needed to pass tech? I do have my rear axle nut, front fork pinch bolts, and front brake caliper bolts safety wired as well. Am i missing anything else?

Thanks Matt

Thats pretty much all thats required to pass tech. My bike had more things wired than required. Hell even my streetbike is fully wired.

You have to understand Woofentino's motivation for safety wiring everything.

He figures if EVERYTHING is safety wired then when he picks up crashed bikes he only has to pick up the bike and everything will still be attached.  Less work for him.

If he had his way he would mold safety wire into race plastic so that even when it breaks it still stays in one piece.   :kicknuts:

Too redundant. Just use duct tape at that point!
